Don't Buy Into These "Trends" About Robots That Vacuum And Mop

Robots That Vacuum and Mop

Robots that vacuum and clean provide the convenience of cleaning both dry debris and wet mess in one go and without the need to switch devices. They also can save space when compared to two separate units, especially in smaller living spaces.

A good combination bot will offer excellent navigation and obstacle avoidance. Look for models with docks that let them automatically empty their bins, fill their water tanks and wash the mopping pads.

1. Eufy S1 Pro

It has a lot to offer for its relatively affordable price, and it's one of the easiest robots we've tested to install. Unpacking the S1 Pro is simple, and the quick-start guide will get you running with a clean, complete dust bag, floor solution for hard floors and water tank in no time.

The S1 Pro is an incredibly powerful machine that can mop and vacuum well. The mops spin at a high speed and utilize 2.2 pounds (1kg of force) to quickly take away pet hair, dirt and sticky dried spills. The vacuum comes with four power modes, a range of attachments and brushes, and a user-friendly application that lets you pick the kind of cleaning you'd like for each room.

You could, for instance request the robot to clean the kitchen and living room thoroughly but leave the spare bedroom alone. The S1 Pro has excellent front collision sensors as well as smart navigation technology. It is able to recognize small obstacles that other models cannot. Its only minor issue is that it tends to crash into walls and objects at a high speed, but an instant glance at the history of cleaning in the app tells you exactly what it's doing, where it's going, and which obstacles it's avoided.

A large LCD screen on the docking station shows you when maintenance jobs must be completed including emptying the debris tray, and cleaning the dirty water tank. It can also mix detergent automatically into the water tank, using a 600ml bottle of the eufy's solution.

Both the S1 Pro mop and vacuum have a long run time. The mop can operate for 184 minutes in Quiet Mode and the vacuum can last for 136 minutes in normal mode, prior to having to recharge or returning to the base. And you can see the full cleaning details in the app, which is clearly laid out and easy to understand although we would have liked to be able to differentiate between a vacuum and mop clean, when looking at a cleaned area in the cleaning history.

2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra

The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra is the most recent version of the company's top robot mop and vacuum. The model this year has an agitator that doubles as its mopping pad. This enhances the carpet cleaning capabilities of this model. The S8 Pro Ultra also has an improved suction capacity, allowing it to pick up fine hairs and other debris that other robotic cleaners could be unable to pick up.

The Roborock model, just like the other two I tried it has infrared and a reactive 3D obstacle avoidance technology that helps it overcome obstacles like furniture, walls and other obstacles. However, the S8 Pro Ultra takes things an extra step by incorporating a dual camera that can detect objects and decide whether they are an object that is a wall or a different surface. It then can alter its direction automatically and clean the objects without missing a step.

It's the most expensive model I've tested, but it also has the most features. Its sleek, angular design is eye-catching and it has just three physical buttons which include the power button which also resumes cleaning; a mop button that doubles as a child lock; and a home button to send the robot back to its dock. Lifting the hinged lid, you will find a 350ml dust bin and 200ml water tank. The water tank self-empties and the bin is auto-refilling.

The only drawback I could find in this model was the VibraRise mop pads mount isn't movable. Although you can change the mopping cloth (if needed) but it's a challenge to remove the mount itself to wash it manually. I've observed that any soft carpet that the robot touches will come into contact with the rough Velcro-like fastener system on the mount, and can cause abrasions.

The S8 Pro Ultra is equipped with a range of clever features, including support for Google Home and Amazon Alexa. You can configure and manage these using the Roborock app that is also home to its maps and advanced mopping settings. The app allows you to schedule cleanings and track the battery's life. But you'll need to jump through a few hoops to enable voice control with this model, which is a shame considering how well it performs otherwise.

3. Dreame X40

The Dreame X40 robot vacuum and mop is a leader in the industry with cutting-edge features, high suction power, and advanced mopping capabilities. Its intelligent design allows you to personalize and efficiently clean while saving time.

The X40 is the first robotic vacuum cleaner to provide 12,000 Pascals of cleaning power, which makes it one of the most effective options available. This powerful vacuum is able to clean up pet hair as well as crumbs and other dry mess. It has a mop of top quality that cleans hard floors without the need for pads. Additionally, the X40 is extremely quiet during its operation, with only occasional bursts of noise when switching between modes or completing self-maintenance tasks.

Another noteworthy feature is the X40's extendable and liftable side brush that allows it to reach difficult-to-access corners as well as clean furniture, such as tables and chair legs. It also lets the robot to reach under low-profile furniture, making it a great option for smaller apartments and condos with tight spaces. The side brush tilts automatically down when it spots wet spots. This is a nice feature that helps the X40 to avoid damaging floors by the frequent back-and-forth movement.

Unlike some other robots that only focus on one thing, the X40 can do mopping and vacuuming simultaneously or individually. It can be programmed to mop only the hard floors and not skip carpeted areas, or reverse the process. It can be controlled via the Dreame App or Alexa, Siri, or Google Home to ensure smooth voice-controlled operations.

The app is simple to use and understand and the X40 is equipped with many clever features that are easy to set up. Users can program the X40 to clean at specific times, alter suction power and mode, see floor plans and mapping, and manage mopping settings. The X40 will also keep track of its progress and notify you when it's done.

The X40 is easy to maintain and comes with numerous features that make it an excellent option for busy families. The docking station automatically empty the dustbin and wash the mop pads, then refill them with fresh cleaning solution and water. It will also tell you if the mop pad is at its maximum capacity and notify you of the situation prior to it bursting.

4. L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra robot is one of the most expensive models available. However, it has several characteristics that make it stand out.  robot vacuums cheap  come with a brand new feature called Smart DuoScrub that utilizes two mops that are high-speed to clean floors more thoroughly than the conventional method, and has a high maximum suction power of 7,000Pa. This is much higher than the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra or Ecovacs Deebot T20 Omni, and it can clean pet hair and smaller dirt particles - and also pick up spills and wet spots.

The mop mops are cleaned and dried in the base station every time they are used. This is an excellent feature since it prevents the growth of mould and unpleasant odours in storage, and also makes the mop system more efficient. This is an option we haven't seen in other robot mop and vacuum models. It could be a great way to keep your home cleaner longer.

There are many options, including the ability to schedule cleaning times and adjust preferences. They can be set through the app or there are buttons on the unit itself. The app is easy to use and provides a variety of options for customizing the cleaning routine. Additionally, there are a lot of functions that other robots don't include, for instance, the Clean Genius mode that automatically boosts suction power when it detects dust particles rather than using a manual setting.

The L20 Ultra is also one of the most stylish robots we've seen on market, with metallic and white design that looks elegant and classy. It's a bit heavier than some of the other two-in-one robots on this list - at around 4kg however it's not overly heavy, and it feels robust and well built. Mopping is also well-designed and the double-rotating mops work well on hard floors and in corners. They can even extend to 2mm of baseboards thanks to the MopExtend feature, which is a nice addition.
